Microinjection technique, which is a new in vitro fertilization method, is used in cases of male infertility where sperm cells cannot reach the female egg or pass the egg membrane for any reason. Before the emergence of this technique, the efficacy of drug therapies and varicocele operations used in cases of severe male infertility have never been clearly demonstrated. Today, experts say that these treatments have no place in cases of severe male infertility and should not be used anymore. The microinjection technique in these cases has clearly changed the fate of these men. For the first time, these conditions are treated at the cell level. A single sperm cell is injected into the egg obtained from the female under the microscope with the help of a thinner needle than the hair hair and fertilization is achieved.
This technique mainly addresses three different categories of disorder. These are cases where sperm count or motility is missing or sperm forms (morphology) are defective. In microinjection applications, fertilization rate is not related to sperm rate. The fertilization rate does not change even when there are several sperm cells in the semen (70-80%). With this technique, pregnancy can be achieved even with several sperm cells. In cases where the motility of the sperm cells is insufficient, this technique can be used to overcome the difficulty of sperms in passing the egg membrane. It has been known for many years that fertilization rate or fertilization rate is very low even in in vitro fertilization applications in which sperm shapes are a cause of infertility. In microinjection technique applications, sperm shapes do not have a negative effect on fertilization and pregnancy rates. The eggs are sucked and fixed with a pipette.
